Pregnancy Glow ?!

Were you expecting that "pregnancy glow"? Few expectant moms get that lucky.

Many experience at least a few skin changes, while others are hit with just about every skin problem in the book.

๐Ÿ’†When do skin changes during pregnancy start?

It is different for everyone. Many women experience the varied collection of skin peculiarities that crop up during pregnancy โ€” including rashes, redness, acne, discolorations and other delightful (not!) eruptions โ€” as early as the first trimester, while others don't notice skin changes until the second or third trimester. But they're so common that it would be unusual if you didn't experience one of them at any time during your pregnancy.

๐Ÿ’†What causes skin changes during pregnancy?

It's largely those pregnancy hormones at work yet again.

Some skin changes you might notice during pregnancy include:

-Pregnancy acne

-PUPPP (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy), or bumpy skin lesions that can resemble skin-colored to pink or dark bumps.

-Skin tags, or small, raised growths on the skin, particularly under your arms

-Dry skin

-Oily skin

-Red palms (called palmar erythema)

-Spider veins

-Skin discoloration

๐Ÿ’†What can I do about skin changes when I am pregnant?

Eat healthy

Drink enough water and fluids daily

Wash and exfoliate with a gentle cleanser

Stick to short showers / baths - this can strip your skin of moisture.

Visit a dermatologist if you are really worried. Remember to tell them that you are pregnant.
